Ashley Bridges, M.D., specializes in family medicine. “One of the best things about family medicine is the relationships with patients. I especially enjoy when I have a new patient tell me they are the mother/father/etc. of one of my other patients. It is a pleasure getting to know the whole family,” said Dr. Bridges.
Dr. Bridges was introduced to health care when she was just a young girl. Her mother was a nurse and often used medical terms like “contusion” and “abrasion” instead of bruises and cuts, leading these to be a normal part of her vocabulary. When she was in high school, biology and chemistry were easily her favorite classes. By the time she got in college to pick a career path, she said, “pre-med seemed like a perfect fit.”
After graduating from medical school, she chose family medicine as her specialty because of the variety of work it allowed her to do. “I can see a newborn in one room and the grandmother in the next one,” she adds. “Patient visits may be for wellness, for acute illness or for ongoing conditions. It stays interesting.”
“My favorite advice to give patients is to go for a walk every day, preferably outside. And eat more vegetables. If we all did these two things, we would not only be healthier, but we would feel better,” she said.
When Dr. Bridges isn’t at work, she enjoys spending times with her three children, gardening, learning new things and reading.
Dr. Bridges’ education includes:
• Residency in family medicine at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa (OU-Tulsa), 2014
• Doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the OU-Tulsa, 2011
• Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Oklahoma State University (OSU), 2007
Beginning September 15, 2022, she will be welcoming new patients and accepting most insurance plans at:
