Bob and Norma Clearly arrive at Bailey Medical Center each Tuesday morning and start their jobs as volunteers for the hospital. Norma helps the staff in Administration with dating and organizing the mail and assists Human Resources with various projects. “It is mostly work that anybody can do, but it is time-consuming and it helps them do more work that is technical to their area,” says the retired pharmacist. “I feel that I’m really helping them.”

Tenika Clemmer is living out what she promised two years ago. Not wanting her daughter, Jaycee, to go down the same path she had been going down, Tenika told us in an interview prior to the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Run that they were starting a new family tradition of healthy living. “If we do these things together, we’ll be more motivated,” she said. In March, Bailey Medical Center, along with Hillcrest HealthCare System announced a new partnership with Tulsa Roughnecks as the official medical provider for the soccer team, providing day-to-day medical care and training for the players. Utica Park Clinic Owasso orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jon Orjala, attends all home games to provide care to players as needed.

During pregnancy, the placenta plays a critical role in supplying a growing fetus with nutrients and water. The placenta also makes a variety of hormones to maintain the pregnancy. In early pregnancy, hormones can cause increased insulin secretion and decreased glucose produced by the liver, which can lead to hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels).
