The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identified a fast-moving virus, hitting the Midwest, as EV-D86. It was first discovered in the 1960s in California and has remained somewhat dormant until recently. More than 80 cases of EV-D86 have been reported this month. It is one of about 100 types of Enteroviruses, which are typically prevalent throughout the summer and early fall. However, most types are similar to the common cold. Easter week is right around the corner – secretly known as one of the biggest weeks of the year for candy manufactures. Did you know 70 percent of all chocolate sales for the year occur the week leading up to Easter? That’s right. Lisa Cross has worked at Bailey Medical Center since the doors opened in 2006 behind the scenes as Lead Distribution Tech in Material Management. She brought years of clinical experience in the Maternal/Child nursing specialty and developed the Bailey’s Babies Childbirth Education Program.
